Powerball Jackpot Winning Ticket Sold in Iowa
After seven weeks of rolling the Powerball lottery finally paid out last night to a lucky ticket holder who matched the winning numbers and scooped the top level prize of $241 million. The winning numbers drawn in the Powerball for Wednesday June 13th 2012 were (7)(10)(14)(33)(57) and the Powerball number was (18). In addition to one ticket holder winning the $241 million jackpot a further seven ticket holders went on to match five of the main numbers drawn winning the Match 5 prize of $1 million each. However, one of the Match 5 winners who purchased their Powerball ticket in Florida increased their $1 million prize up to $2 million for selecting the Power Play option.
The identity of the Powerball jackpot winner is not known as they are still yet to come forward to claim their life changing prize. However, Powerball lottery officials have today announced that the Powerball jackpot winning ticket was purchased at a Hy-Vee store on Edgewood Road in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wednesday’s Powerball win of $241 million is the highest lottery win Iowa has ever seen and exceeds the largest ever Powerball prize won by Iowa residents which was $200.8 million in October 2006 that was claimed by Tim and Kellie Guderian.
Whilst players are still checking their Powerball results to see if they match the winning numbers drawn the winner, or winners, will have to decide if they want to receive the cash lump option which would work out at $160.3 million, or whether they will opt for the annuity payments over the duration of 30 years.
Saturday’s Powerball jackpot will now go back to the minimum prize of $40 million.
