$1 Billion Powerball Jackpot Up for Grabs
Thursday December 11th 2025As winter storms hit parts of the U.S., the Powerball jackpot is also ‘snowballing’ and has hit $1 billion following the latest draw without a winner on Wednesday night.
The jackpot has now rolled over 41 times in a row - equaling the record for the longest streak of draws without a winner in the game’s history. It also rolled 41 times before it was last won on September 6.
On that occasion the jackpot reached $1.787 billion and was eventually split between two ticket holders - an anonymous player from Missouri and the Seven Bridges Revocable Trust from Texas.
It has ‘only’ got up to $1 billion from the same number of draws over the past three months, but the next draw on Saturday still provides an opportunity for someone to win one of the largest Powerball jackpots of all time. It currently ranks seventh in the list of the top jackpots.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s $930 million draw, Powerball Product Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn said: “This Powerball jackpot has been snowballing for three months, but that doesn’t mean players aren’t winning. Nearly 700 tickets have won prizes of $50,000 or more, totaling more than $109 million, including 32 winning tickets in last Monday’s drawing alone.”
There were more great prizes won on Wednesday, December 10, including three worth $1 million. These tickets - sold in Maryland, Michigan and New Jersey - matched all five main numbers and just missed out on the Powerball.
