There have been a number of record-breaking Powerball jackpots in 2016 that have made their way into the top ten biggest windfalls in the game’s history. January started spectacularly as a $1.58 billion prize was split between three lucky ticket holders, while a family syndicate from Trenton, New Jersey won a $429.6 million prize in May. Now, both New Hampshire Lottery officials and fans of the game are wondering when the winner of the eighth-largest lottery prize in U.S. history will reveal themselves.

Quoted by WMUR, Executive Director of New Hampshire Lottery Charlie McIntyre announced: "We've been contacted by a group of attorneys representing the winner." However, McIntyre did state that there was still some doubt, but remains hopeful that it is only a matter of time: "I've seen a photocopy of the ticket but not the actual ticket yet. We're waiting for that to walk through the door any day now."

The winner of the sizeable Powerball prize may still be unknown, but that hasn’t stopped the Hannaford supermarket in Raymond from benefitting from the windfall. The store received $75,000 for playing its part in selling the winning ticket and plans to donate the windfall to charitable organizations in the state.

While lottery officials wait for the winner to identify themselves, the current Powerball jackpot continues to climb and now stands at $154 million for tonight’s drawing. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning this incredible prize, Powerball tickets can be purchased from any authorized retailer in any of the 47 participating states and jurisdictions. Good luck!
