The estimated $768.4 million top prize was the third-largest in U.S. lottery history. The lucky winner(s) will be able to choose between an annuity paid in 30 payments over 29 years, or a lump sum one-time payment of about $477 million. Both of those amounts are before taxes.

“It’s going to be a very green spring for our first Powerball jackpot winner(s) of 2019,” said David Barden, Powerball Product Group Chairman. “A jackpot of this size can make many dreams come true - not just for the winner(s), but for all Lottery beneficiaries and the lucky state of Wisconsin.”

This jackpot was one for the record books, right behind the largest jackpot in world lottery history, a $1.586 billion Powerball prize shared by winners in California, Florida, and Tennessee in January 2016, and the second-largest jackpot, the $1.537 billion Mega Millions prize won in South Carolina in October 2018.

The winning numbers in the Wednesday, March 27, 2019 drawing were white balls 16, 20, 37, 44, 62, with the Powerball of 12, and the Power Play multiplier add-on option at 3X.

If you didn’t hit the jackpot, it doesn’t mean you’re left empty-handed. There are nine ways to win a Powerball prize, and in Wednesday’s drawing, over 5.4 million tickets won prizes from $4 up to $2 million - so be sure to check your tickets.

Seven tickets were Match 5 $1 million winners, matching all five white balls but not the red Powerball. The tickets worth $1 million were sold in Arizona, California (two tickets), Indiana, Missouri, New Jersey and New York.

Two tickets sold in Kansas and Minnesota matched all five white balls and had also added the Power Play option for an extra $1, doubling their prize to $2 million!

The Powerball jackpot had been rolling over since it was last won on December 26, 2018 in New York.

The top prize has now reset to its guaranteed default value, $40 million ($24.8 million cash value). The Power Play multiplier is 10X, because the jackpot is under $150 million. The next drawing is Saturday, March 30, so don’t forget to get your tickets.
