Fourth-Largest Powerball Jackpot Won in Oregon

Monday April 8th 2024

The Powerball jackpot was won for the second time in 2024, after having rolled over 40 times. The amount on offer for the April 6 draw was $1.32 billion, with a cash option of $621 million. There was only a single ticket purchased in Oregon which won one of the biggest prizes in the history of the game.

The winning numbers were 22, 27, 44, 52, 69, with the red Powerball 9. The Power Play number was 3X. The April 6 draw proved to be lucky not only for the tier one winner as there were over 4.5 million Powerball participants who won prizes. Out of those, seven were very close to winning the jackpot and matched five main numbers instead. A prize of $1 million went to each of them in Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan and Wyoming.

This was an unusual draw as it was delayed by approximately three hours. Instead of taking place at the usual time at 11:00 PM ET, it was held at 2:30 AM ET. This was due to the fact that one of the participating states needed more time to complete the necessary security procedures. But it all had a happy ending as it was announced that the amazing prize went to Oregon.

It has been confirmed that the ticket was purchased in Portland, in ZIP Code 97218. That area also includes Portland International Airport which means that the happy winner or winners probably bought the ticket before or after going on holiday. We might be able to find out the story of how the ticket was purchased as in Oregon winners can’t remain anonymous. The winner should claim the prize within one year from the draw date.

The Powerball jackpot went to Oregon for the sixth time and is now the largest amount ever won in the Beaver State. Previously, the largest Powerball prize ever won there was worth $340 million. In a press release, Oregon Lottery Director Mike Wells said:

“I want to congratulate the winner on this life changing moment. No one in Oregon has ever won a prize on this scale, and it’s very exciting for our staff and players. Even if you aren’t holding the winning ticket, all of our players support programs and services statewide that receive Lottery dollars.”

Now, the jackpot has been reset to $20 million and you can grab your tickets in one of the 47 participating states and jurisdictions for the next draw. You have three chances to win every week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. After every draw, check our Numbers page to find out if you won.
