The lucky California player who won last Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot has yet to come forward to claim their money, but it has been announced that the prize amount has been revised up from $188 million to $191 million.

The ticket was bought at Primm Valley Lotto in Nipton, San Bernardino County, and successfully matched the numbers 17, 37, 53, 54 and 61 with Mega Ball 8. The winning player has a year from the date of the draw to come and collect their money from one of the California Lottery’s nine office locations, and can decide whether to take the full amount in 30 annual instalments or a cash sum of $114.1 million.

While there is no rush for the player to come forward, they have been advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe until they are ready to contact officials. It was revealed this week that a Georgia woman had found a Powerball ticket worth $100,000 whilst cleaning. She had played the game back in September, and only a New Year’s resolution ‘not to let stuff pile up’ prompted her to go through a stash of old tickets and find it before it expired.

The Powerball jackpot stands at a fantastic $229 million for Saturday’s drawing, while there is also a top prize of $20 million in tonight’s Mega Millions. Tickets for both games can be bought from authorized retailers in participating jurisdictions or through the Lottery Tickets page.
