The jackpot has gone off for the second time in under three weeks, following the big $516 million win in Pennsylvania.

Last night's winning Mega Millions ticket was sold by the Citgo Gas Station at 13830 South Pulaski in Crestwood, Illinois and hit all the numbers drawn on Tuesday, June 8 – white balls 9, 22, 39, 41 and 54, and the gold Mega Ball 19.

The winner will have the choice of taking the full prize as a yearly annuity spread over decades, or receiving a one-time lump sum payout of $38.7 million cash.

Other big payouts in last night's draw were two $1 million Match 5 tickets purchased in Iowa and West Virginia.

17 players hit the four white balls plus the Mega Ball to take home the game's $10,000 third prize. Seven of those tickets included the Megaplier add-on for $1 extra and are now worth $30,000 each after the 3X Megaplier was drawn on Tuesday.

In addition to the jackpot winner, 405,765 tickets in total landed cash prizes. Could you be one of them? Find out right now with the Mega Millions number checker.

Tuesday was the fourth Mega Millions top prize won in 2021. Previously, a $516 million jackpot was hit in Pennsylvania on May 21, while a New York couple enjoyed a $96 million prize on February 16. And who can forget the incredible $1.050 billion prize scored by a Michigan lottery group on January 22?

Illinois to launch vaccine lottery

Gov. J.B. Pritzker has announced that Prairie State residents will soon be able to win prizes in a vaccine lottery by getting their COVID shots.

The initiative will be similar to those already launched in other states to motivate those who are unvaccinated to get their jabs.

While the state is still finalizing its plan, Pritzker said he'll be able to reveal more information shortly. "The legislature gave us the ability through our lottery in the state to be able to offer something," he said. "Again, the details of which we haven't really worked out, but we're going to come forward with that as soon as we can."

The governor's target is to get 80-85% of eligible residents innoculated.
