Iowa man wins $1 million lottery prize

After a mini winning streak on lottery scratch cards last week Pat Herman, an Iowa man wins a $1 million lottery prize after purchasing a Lifetime Riches scratch off ticket from the Iowa Lottery. This fantastic win for the man who is from Mason City, makes him the second largest winner for the city in as many years with the previous big win coming from a $1 MegaMillions winner in October of last year.

On Tuesday, Herman called in at Kum & Go, 1224N, Federal Avenue, Mason City to claim a $50 prize he had won on another scratch off ticket he had purchased from the Iowa Lottery. When he wins a lottery prize, Herman revealed that he usually uses all or part of his win to buy another scratch off ticket from the Iowa Lottery. This time, he chose to purchase the Lifetime Riches scratch off. Sitting in his truck outside the store, he first scratched the ticket to reveal $40, 000. When scratching further, he discovered that he had in fact won $40,000 a year for 25 years on this game from the Iowa Lottery.

After going straight back into the store where he bought the scratch off lottery ticket to get his win checked, before returning home to take stock of his amazing good fortune.

Pat Herman who works as a welder had recently ordered a new Ford pickup and this fantastic win on the Iowa Lottery will make paying for the truck much easier for him.

Winners of the top prize on this lotto ticket have the option of choosing the $40,000 a year 25 years of alternatively they can opt for a $650,000 lump sum before taxes.
