March Superdraw

As suggested in our Double Rollover Jackpot news item, it has been confirmed that a EuroMillions March superdraw will be held on Friday 6 March, 2009. In contrast to previous ‘guaranteed superdraws’, the next superdraw jackpot will be able to roll over if nobody manages to win it.

Winning the jackpot has proved to be difficult in recent ‘guaranteed lottery superdraws’, with the jackpot having to be rolled down to players matching five main numbers and just one of the two Lucky Stars. However, this time there is no guarantee that the jackpot will be paid out, so if no player beats odds of 1 in 76,275,360 the prize will roll over to the draw on Friday 13 March.

The superdraw on Friday 6 March coincides with the introduction of a new EuroMillions rule that prevents the jackpot from exceeding €185 million. Under the new rules, the jackpot can grow to €185 million but must remain at that level until it is won, with excess prize money being added instead to the pools for other prizes.
