Mega Millions jackpot rolls past $100m

Wednesday March 2nd 2011

The Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to an estimated $105million, following yet another rollover. Last night’s draw was the eighth in a row not to produce a lottery jackpot winner, who this time would have been able to claim $88million. A total of eight people – two from California, two from New Jersey, and players from Arizona, New York, Oregon and Tennessee - matched the five main numbers, 1, 12, 19, 20 and 47, netting themselves $200,000 each.

None of them picked the correct Mega Ball however, meaning the jackpot has increased in size to over $100million. If just one player manages to match all the numbers during this coming Friday’s draw on March 4, and opts to take a one-off lump sum cash payment, they will walk away with $66.1million before tax.

Mega Millions isn’t the only lottery game with a considerable jackpot at the moment. The next EuroMillions draw will take place this Friday night, and the estimated top prize currently stands at €51million. In addition, the UK Millionaire Raffle is guaranteed to create one new millionaire.
