Multi state lottery jackpots won in Michigan

Thursday July 1st 2010

PowerBall and MegaMillions are the two biggest lottery games in the US and both of these multi state jackpots were won in Michigan last week. A group of fourteen workers in Detroit who have called themselves the ‘Lucky Thirteen Plus One’ won a share of the staggering $96.6 million PowerBall jackpot while another group of five people who work in a factory in Kalamazoo share the MegaMillions jackpot of $36 million. These are huge wins for one state in a single week and celebrations are likely to continue for some time.

The PowerBall winners names have been released but most of them have chosen to keep any further details secret. As this lottery jackpot was shared by one other lottery ticket holder from Montana, it is expected that each of the Michigan workers will walk away with $1.2 million once taxes have been deducted.

The winners of the MegaMillions jackpot are expected to share a total of $23.3 million once state and federal taxes have been deducted. The group called the ‘RRRLB lottery Club’ has created this name by taking the first initial of each of its members. This lottery group had been playing together for approximately three years and the largest win they had claimed prior to this most recent lottery win was $150. The full names of the MegaMillions winners have not been revealed nor has the name of their employer.

If you want to buy a lotto ticket for either of these lottery games, the MegaMillions has a current jackpot of $25 million and the next draw will take place on Friday. The PowerBall had a draw last night and was standing at $27 million but until we have the full results of this lottery draw, we are unable to give a new jackpot figure for the draw on Saturday.
