New York Player Claims $128 Million Mega Millions JackpotWednesday June 22nd 2022
A Brooklyn man has come forward to claim the incredible Mega Millions prize he won in the March 8, 2022 draw.
His ticket was the sole winner that matched all six numbers drawn on Tuesday, March 8: 7, 18, 38, 58, 64, and the gold Mega Ball, 24. The jackpot was originally estimated at $126 million but high ticket sales drove its actual value to an amazing $128 million.
Kahan’s win was the first time a NY player took home the Mega Millions jackpot since September 2021. He decided to take his winnings as a cash option lump sum payout of $52,559,839 after tax withholdings.
In New York, Mega Millions had sales of $333,932,996 in fiscal year 2020-2021, while school districts in the city’s five boroughs received $1,331,975,933 in Lottery Aid to Education funds. New York State education as a whole received $3.59 billion in Lottery contributions during the same period.
