Pennsylvania Player Scoops $149 Million Jackpot with Mega Millions

Wednesday May 21st 2014

Mega Millions officials have confirmed that the $149 million jackpot was finally won in last night’s draw. The phenomenal top prize was a result of 12 successive rollovers and six weeks without a top tier winner but that all changed last night when one lucky ticket purchased in Pennsylvania matched all six numbers drawn.

While more specific information about the retailer’s location has not yet been released, it is certain that the winning ticket is the first of its kind to be purchased in Pennsylvania. The state joined Mega Millions in January 2010 and, although there has been numerous million dollar second tier wins over the years, this is the first jackpot win for the state.

The sole second tier winner in last night’s draw purchased their ticket in Michigan and, as they chose not to include the Megaplier option, won the set $1 million prize. These two winners were joined by over two million other players across the country who secured a prize worth between $1 for matching just the Mega Ball and $5,000 for matching four main numbers plus the Mega Ball. The winning numbers and a full prize breakdown from last night’s draw can be found on the Mega Millions Results page.

The next Mega Millions draw takes place on Friday and will give players the chance to win a brand new top prize of $15 million. For your shot at hitting the jackpot, get your tickets online by following the Buy Tickets tab or by visiting an authorised retailer.

Good Luck!
