PowerBall Jackpot Continues to Grow

Wednesday August 31st 2011 PowerBall Jackpot Continues to Grow

PowerballWhile most of the news has been focused on the bumper EuroMillions jackpot over the last week or two, many may have overlooked the fact that the PowerBall jackpot continues to grow, which is great news for players in the US. The last time that there was a jackpot winner on the PowerBall was 11th August, so we have seen almost a month of rollovers on this lottery game for it reach the monster jackpot of $75 million that it has reached today.

The last jackpot win was for over $220 million and was won by a single ticket holder from Minnesota and although the PowerBall has a fair way to go to reach this kind of high, it is still high enough to cause a stir across the US.

The last PowerBall draw took place on Saturday 27th August and the winning numbers were 2, 12, 25, 54 and 58. The PowerBall was 14 and Power Play was 3. Obviously, there was no jackpot winner on this occasion but it is great news to see that three players managed to match the five main numbers to scoop a $200,000 prize while one player from Florida also matched five main numbers but added Power Play to bump their win up to a massive $1 million.

There will be mass excitement amongst lottery players today as they flock to get their last minute lottery ticket for the next draw which takes place tonight. If you fancy playing one of the state lottery games that are slightly easier to win, the California Super Lotto plus that also has a draw this evening has a jackpot of $18 million.
