Powerball Jackpot on a Roll - Records Broken!
Tuesday December 16th 2025Now that the Powerball jackpot has comfortably cleared a billion dollars, things are getting exciting. We're seeing more and more winners for each draw, driven by a frenzy of ticket sales. Let's take a closer look at what's going on with Powerball at the moment!

No Jackpot Winners Last Night, But…
Two players came close to winning the billion-dollar Powerball jackpot on offer last night (Monday, December 15, if you're reading this later on), but the Powerball eluded them. The $1,000,000 runner-up prize should be of some comfort, thankfully! The lucky tickets were purchased in Arizona and California.
The Power Play multiplier for the draw was an impressive 4X, which we don't see too often. No players claimed the $2 million second-place prize (although that prize tier is always $2 million regardless of the multiplier value), but fourteen tickets picked up a noteworthy $200,000 prize. That should cover Christmas costs for the next few years or so!
A New Jackpot Record?
The jackpot for the next Powerball draw is currently estimated at $1.25 billion - $1,250,000,000 - although this value could potentially be revised depending on ticket sales. This represents the 6th biggest Powerball jackpot so far, and it's still a long way off the $2.04 billion jackpot won in California in November 2022.
Despite the relatively low prize, this jackpot run has already managed to set a new record: the most consecutive rollovers without a jackpot-win! As of this draw, the jackpot has rolled over for 43 draws without being won, breezing past the previous record of 41, which was set earlier this year.
Although there have been more draws without a win, the jackpot is still lower than previous runs due to lower ticket sales. Recent big jackpots for both Powerball and Mega Millions ($1.8 billion in September and $980 million in November respectively) may be to blame here, although there are almost certainly other factors in play.
How to Get Involved
If you'd like to take part and have a shot at winning a billion dollars (who wouldn't?), head to your nearest state lottery retailer and grab a ticket or two. Alternatively, why not participate online? In many states, and even outside the USA, it's now possible to take part in Powerball and other lotteries online. Check out our Tickets Page to learn more.
