This rollover has tipped the scales of the estimated jackpot to just over the $100 million milestone, to the excitement of players across the USA. The next draw takes place tonight, Wednesday 18th July 2012, and Powerball can expect a flurry of ticket sales just before the draw, with everyone wanting to be within a chance of netting that impressive, life changing jackpot.

The Powerball jackpot has not been won since Noel Peel from Connecticut succeeded in matching all five numbers and the Powerball on 23rd June 2012, where he scooped $60 million. Not only was Noel the eighth person from Connecticut to win the Powerball jackpot, he was the second from his actual hometown, Seymour, following Christopher Ewen’s $59.5 million win back in 2005.

Whether the $100 million jackpot will see a winner at tonight’s Powerball draw is anyone’s guess, as the Powerball is a lottery known for its fondness of rolling over!

The highest Powerball jackpot ever seen was won by a group of eight co-workers from Nebraska on 18th February 2006, and topped an amazing $365 million.

This time round, the Powerball still has some way to go before reaching those dizzying heights, but with tonight’s jackpot hitting the hundred it’s unlikely ticket holders wouldn’t be satisfied should they be lucky enough to hit the big time!
