Who Won the Highest Mega Millions Jackpot Ever?

Wednesday April 4th 2012

Lotteries don’t get more exciting than rolling over and reaching very impressive amounts of money, so when the Mega Millions jackpot soared past the $500 million mark and eventually came in at $656 million players from across American were hoping that they could match the numbers drawn to win this jackpot on Friday 30th March. Three winning Mega Millions tickets won this jackpot, however the identities of these lucky ticket holders is yet to be known causing many people to ask who won the highest Mega Millions jackpot ever?

The winning tickets were purchased in Maryland, Kansas and Illinois and all of the ticket holders have quite a while, in fact the ticket holder who bought their ticket in Kansas has a year, to claim their winnings. Each participating American state differs in rules when it comes to claims procedures and in both Maryland and Kansas the winners can choose to remain anonymous; however in Illinois the winner will be identified.

Speculation into who won this Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since the draw last Friday and this week it was reported that a McDonald’s employee claimed that she had one of the winning tickets. However, the lottery officials said that no claims have been made yet, so it will be interesting to see if this woman has genuinely won a share of the $656 jackpot or if it is just speculation.

The Mega Millions draw last night was the first since the largest ever won last Friday, however no players matched the Mega Millions results meaning that the top prize rolls over so it is now estimated at $20 million for this Friday night’s draw.
