Lottery scratchcard mistake worth a mint

Sunday November 22nd 2009

Lotteries around the world all sell some form of scratchcard or another and each have varying values to their maximum win amounts. For one lucky player in New Jersey a lottery scratchcard mistake was worth a mint! The fortune winner visited his local store and asked for a scratchcard called 'Deuces Wild', the clerk accidentally handed him an 'Aces Wild'.

The dippy clerk did try and stop the customer when he realised his faux pas but was unsuccessful. The store owner, Domenic Galle, told his employee ‘not to worry’ about his error, commenting that it may have been fate playing a hand. Just an hour later the customer returned to the store, but not to complain as some may imagine, but to claim a $100,000 win! As well as thanking the attendant for his error the jubilant winner also promised him a $1,000 tip for making the not so costly mistake.

He anonymous winner regularly buys lottery tickets at the store and they will also benefit from the substantial win to the tune of $2,000 from the New Jersey Lottery. Previously the Indian Fields store has had a couple of other big winners that include:

  • A $6.8 million win on Pick 6
  • $354,000 win on Pick 5
  • $30,000 instant win on another of the lottery scratchcards.

This is one mistake by a member of staff that won’t have cost the store owner a dime, but will definitely have people rushing to buy lottery tickets there in the future. The cards flopped in this lucky winners favour!
