Mega Millions Jackpot Won in Tennessee
Monday April 18th 2022A single ticket in Tennessee hit the Mega Millions top prize on Friday night - the same week the jackpot was also won in Minnesota, and the first time since July 2016 that it's been won two draws in a row.
The single winning ticket matched all six numbers in the April 15, 2022 draw to take home the $20 million top prize ($11.9 million cash): white balls 4, 17, 20, 46 and 64, and the gold Mega Ball, 23.
The ticket was sold at Citgo Food Mart, 560 Hwy. 70, in Pegram, and the owner, Rajesh Ghadiyali, will be paid a $50,000 bonus from the TN Lottery for selling the ticket.
Friday's jackpot win is the fourth time the Mega Millions top prize has been hit in 2022. This year's previous wins were $426 million won in California on January 28, then $128 million won in New York on March 8, and last Tuesday's $110 million won in Ramsey, Minnesota.
It's also only the second time a Mega Millions jackpot has been won in Tennessee; the state's first win was on January 3, 2014.
By contrast, players in The Volunteer State have enjoyed seven Powerball wins, including one-third of $1.58 billion, the biggest jackpot in lottery history, won by John and Lisa Robinson of Munford, TN in 2016.
TN lottery winners are not allowed to remain anonymous, although it is possible to shield your identity by forming a Trust to claim the win on your behalf, keeping your name out of the spotlight - that was the strategy successfully used by a 2019 Powerball winner.
More Big Wins on Friday
There was also another big winner in Friday's draw - a ticket in Iowa matched the five white balls to win the Match 5 $1 million second prize.
Additionally, seven lucky winners matched four of the white balls and the Mega Ball to win the $10,000 third prize. However, two of those tickets added the Megaplier option for an extra $1 and therefore are worth $40,000 each, after the 4X Megaplier was drawn on Friday.

The jackpot has reset to its current starting level of $20 million ($11.9 million cash) for the next draw tomorrow, Tuesday, April 19.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot for tonight's draw, Monday, April 18, stands at $348 million ($209.5 million cash).
