Powerball Jackpot Estimated at $950 Million for Saturday's Draw
Thursday August 28th 2025Wednesday's Powerball draw has been and gone with no jackpot winners, so the massive jackpot continues to roll upwards. The grand prize for Saturday's draw is an estimated $950,000,000 annuity, or a $428,900,000 one-time cash payment (both before taxes).
Although the jackpot remains unwon, there have still been millions of winners across the US for the past four draws, and some of these second-prize wins are pretty massive in their own right! Breaking Records
If it's won on Saturday, then the $950 million jackpot will be the 6th biggest Powerball prize ever won. It needs to pass the $1.08 billion mark to overtake the current 5th place record jackpot, which was won in California in 2023. The biggest ever Powerball jackpot - in fact, the biggest jackpot of all time, for any game - was worth $2.04 billion (that's $2,040,000,000), and was won by a single player in California in 2022.
Our current jackpot has a long way to go before beating that particular record, however it's a lot closer to the current Mega Millions jackpot record. There have been more billion-dollar Mega Millions jackpots than there have been for Powerball, but the biggest of these was $1.602 billion, won in 2023. Still a long way off, but it's definitely on the cards for the current Powerball jackpot to beat the Mega Millions record.
