Powerball Jackpot Won: $526.5 Million Goes to California Player
Monday March 31st 2025It’s jackpot galore in the states as the Powerball Jackpot was won on Saturday March 29 - less than a week after the Mega Millions top prize was picked up last Tuesday.
We Have a Winner
The latest Powerball winner has won over half a billion dollars, as they matched five of the main numbers, plus the powerball to get a total of $526.5 million.
So far all we know is that the winner comes from California, and the ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on N Euclid Street in Anaheim. The winner will have to reveal themselves when they come forward to claim the prize, as California law does not allow anonymity for its winners. The rationale being that they want to showcase the winners are real, and not to undermine the validity of the lottery.

Details of an Exciting Draw
The winning numbers on Saturday were 7, 11, 21, 53, 61 and a Powerball of 2. Five players came incredibly close to winning the whole thing when they matched five numbers - just missing out on the Powerball.
These players came from: Georgia (X2), Ohio, Oregon and Texas. Each one will certainly be having a night of celebrations as they have all picked up $1 million as a result. We've also got a full results breakdown page if you want more information.
In total there were 928,162 players who won prizes on the night - but it was only one player, from California, who managed to get the whole thing. This is the sixteenth time a Powerball win has arrived in the Golden state - ranking it the ninth state with the most winners (the top state being Indiana with 39).
The largest win in California, and indeed Powerball history, was in November 2022 where Edwin Castro from Altadena picked up an astounding $2.04 billion. Since Powerball only first came to the Golden State in 2013, to have this many notable wins is quite the feat.
More Jackpots to Come?
This is the second time Powerball has been won in 2025 already, with the last win occurring on January 18 where an Oregon player managed to win $328 million! With a $113 million Mega Millions jackpot won just the day before on Friday the 17th!
This year it seems that the two multi-state lotteries (Powerball and Mega Millions) are on a payout roll - with two huge jackpots won in the same week for a second time in 2025!
