Kentucky 5 is a lottery that takes place daily at 11:00 PM ET/ 10:00 PM CT and offers a jackpot of at least $40,000. The grand prize has the potential to climb far higher, while you can also win for matching three or four out of five numbers. An Xtra feature is also available if you want to give yourself even more chances to win.
How to Play
You'll need to follow the steps below to play Kentucky 5. You can buy tickets from lottery retailers in Kentucky, or take part online.
- Select five numbers from 1 to 39, or go for a Quick pick to get a random set
- Choose how many consecutive drawings you want to play
- Decide whether to add Xtra to your ticket
Each play costs $1, with an additional fee if you add Xtra.
If you like to play the same numbers in every draw, you can hand an old ticket to the retailer and ask to ‘play it again’. All of the same selections will then be replayed, without you needing to fill out another playslip.

Xtra
If you add Xtra to your ticket, it increases your chances of winning as there is an additional prize tier for matching just two numbers. It could also potentially boost the value of any payout you win, as it multiplies winnings for the Match 3 and Match 4 prizes. Xtra costs $1 per play.
The Xtra number that will be applied to your prize is randomly assigned by the computer at the point of purchase and will be printed on your ticket. It could be either 2x, 3x, 4x or 5x. The following table shows all the different prize amounts you can win.
