Another Mega Millions Jackpot Won in Florida
Wednesday August 16th 2023After only rolling over once, the Mega Millions jackpot was won again after last night’s draw on August 15. The grand prize is worth $36 million and the winning ticket was sold in Florida.
The winning numbers for this draw were 18, 39, 42, 57, 63 and the Mega Ball was 7. The Megaplier number was 3x. Over half a million players won a prize last night, so make sure you check your tickets to see if you are one of them as well. One participant managed to match five numbers without the Mega Ball and will win no less than $1 million. The winning ticket was sold in New Jersey. Unfortunately, no one managed to match five numbers with Megaplier but if they did, they would’ve won $3 million.
This jackpot win comes after the biggest Mega Millions grand prize was won last week on August 8, after having rolled over for more than three months. The lucky winner or winners won $1.602 billion and will have until February 4, 2024 to claim their prize. They will need to decide whether they want to take the prize as a cash lump sum worth $794.2 million or as annuity payments over the next 30 years. Similarly, last night’s ticket holder(s) will have to decide if they choose the cash option of $17.4 million or they go for annuity.
So what do these two jackpots have in common? Both winning tickets were sold in Florida. It seems like this state is a lucky spot for Mega Millions jackpots.
It won’t be too long until we’ll find out who won the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever as, according to Florida state lottery rules, winners have to come forward within 180 days. They then have to make their name and city of residence known to the public within the next 90 days.
The jackpot has now been reset to its base level of $20 million and it has a cash option of $9.6 million. It seems like August is a lucky month for Mega Millions, so grab your tickets for a chance to win! The next draw is on Friday, August 18.
