Cash4Life to Move to Daily Drawings From July

Wednesday June 12th 2019

From July 1st, the popular multi-state annuity lottery Cash4Life will be drawn every day. It is currently played twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, but the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) passed a vote on Tuesday to increase the draw frequency, after seeking agreement from the other participating state lotteries.

Cash4Life is one of the most widely-played annuity lotteries in the United States. It is available to play in nine states in total: Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia. It is operated by the NYSGC, and all participating states offer the game with the same set of rules.

Back in January the NYSGC voted in favor of the initial proposal to increase the lottery’s draw frequency, but they then had to seek approval from all of the member states. Having done so, the committee finally voted to change the rules in a meeting this week, confirming that the daily draws would start from July 1st 2019.

What Is Cash4Life?

This will come as exciting news for lottery players in those states, as Cash4Life offers some big prizes, including the top prize, which pays out $1,000 every day for the rest of the winner’s life. The second prize works in the same way, except winners can expect to receive $1,000 per week for life.

To do that, players have to pick five numbers between 1 and 60, and a Cash Ball between 1 and 4. If they match all of those numbers with the winning line, they win the top prize; match five numbers without the Cash Ball and they win the second prize.

Anyone who is lucky enough to win one of the top two prizes has the option to receive the money as a lump sum payment, but the big sell for this game is that it offers a guaranteed income for life, in contrast to other lottery games which either pay out up front or over a fixed period of time.

The game rules and the price of tickets are not expected to change when the extra draws come in, meaning that players in the nine participating states, including New York, have more than three times as many chances to win an income for life, without any downsides.
