Grandmother Wins after Playing Same Lottery Numbers for 27 Years

Wednesday September 21st 2016

Persistence finally paid off for Idaho Lottery player Rosemary Loveland last week when the numbers she had played regularly since 1989 finally came up in Lucky for Life. The grandmother from Boise matched all five main numbers in the drawing on Thursday September 15th to win the second-tier prize of $25,000 a year for life, although she chose to accept a lump sum payment of $390,000.

The winning Lucky for Life numbers were 1, 4, 16, 28 and 29 with Lucky Ball 10. If Loveland had also matched the Lucky Ball, she would have picked up $7,000 a week for life. You can find all the draw game results from the Gem State at the Idaho Lottery Numbers page.

The retiree told lottery staff that she had recognised the numbers immediately, having played them in various games since the state lottery launched, and admitted “I thought I was going to have a heart attack!” She immediately called her daughter to tell her “I did it! I did it! I did it!” and says she will use the cash to look after her children and grandchildren.

Rosemary stuck with the same numbers for nearly three decades before she landed her big win, but other players have different strategies that they hope will bring them a gigantic windfall. Some study lottery statistics and play the most common or most overdue numbers, some use memorable dates and others leave it to fate and buy Quick Picks, where the lines are automatically generated by the computer. In reality, whether you choose your own numbers or let the computer pick, each line has as much chance of winning as any other.

However you pick your lucky lottery lines, make sure you check the results at Lottery.net.
