Saturday’s winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61 and 62, with a Powerball of 17. An incredible level of ticket sales helped to produce more than 9.9 million winning entries across all the prize categories, including 20 payouts of $1 million or more (apart from the jackpot winners). See the Powerball Numbers page for full draw details.

It was announced shortly after the draw that the jackpot-winning tickets were sold in Missouri and Texas. The $893.7 million share of the jackpot still worked out as the largest lottery payout in either state’s history. The combined $1.787 billion also made it the second-biggest jackpot of all time for any draw game.

One more draw without a win would have probably pushed the jackpot beyond the $2.04 billion that went to Edwin Castro from California in November 2022, but instead the winners from Missouri and Texas can now look forward to claiming their prizes.

They will have 180 days from the draw date to come forward, and must also decide whether to take the advertised amount as an annuity or go for the cash option – which will be $410.3 million for each share. Taxes will be withheld regardless of the winner’s preference.

Major prizes in both Missouri and Texas can be claimed anonymously, so there is a chance that the identity of the winners will never be revealed if they do not wish to go public. Only time will tell how much information gets disclosed.

Missouri has now created 32 Powerball jackpot winners, cementing its position as one of the most successful participating states. Texas, despite having a far larger population, has only had three, although the Lone Star State only joined the game in 2010 (Missouri has been offering Powerball since 1992). There are 48 jurisdictions where the game is available, and the latest jackpot run has helped to raise funds for good causes in every one of them, as well as giving away great prizes.

The jackpot had not previously been won since May 31, but earlier in the year there had been a regular rush of winners. Abbas Shafii of Oregon banked $328.5 million in January, followed by wins for California, Kentucky, and California again.

While the wait for the latest winner to claim their prize now begins, the jackpot will reset to $20 million for the next draw on Monday night. It’s still a life-changing sum, so don’t forget to take part for your chance to win.
