A couple from Alton, Illinois are $675,000 richer today as the Missouri Lottery jackpot winners collect their prize more than a month after their winning numbers were drawn. The Missouri Lottery draw which took place on 25th June saw Ernie and Jude Stephens scoop a $1.9 million jackpot win after their $5 Quick Pick ticket came up trumps matching the numbers 6, 10, 20, 30, 38 and 40. Choosing the lump sum option, the Missouri Lottery winners have taken home the $675,000 after taxes have been deducted.

Jude Stephens, who actually claimed the lottery win, had not told all of her family and friends about the lucky win. She simply told them to ‘watch the news.’ Reporters were very surprised that the couple had managed to keep the news of their win on the Missouri Lottery a secret for so long.

The Ernie and Jude have made their first purchases since collecting their lottery winnings which are surprisingly modest and include a tankful of gas and $5 in lottery tickets. A few bills have been paid but as of yet, to major purchases have been made. However, the couple stand firm that they plan to spend one third of their fortune on a house, one third is to be invested while the remainder will spent on their grandchildren’s college funds and the grandchildren themselves. Ernie just wants a porch swing and a porch so that he can sit and watch the world go by.

The couple always buy lottery tickets for the Illinois Lottery and will continue to do so, despite their big win coming from the Missouri Lottery.
