New Jersey lotto player scoops almost $500k

Tuesday April 5th 2011

A lotto player who bought a ticket for last Saturday’s Cash 5 draw in New Jersey has won almost half a million dollars. The winning ticket, worth $476,977, was the only one sold for Saturday’s game to match all five main numbers, 1, 8, 16, 28 and 30.

As of last night, no one had come forward to claim the prize, and so lottery organisers have released details of the location where the jackpot slip was sold. It was the Spruce Run Exxon gas station, on State Route 173 in Hampton, Hunterdon County.

Executive director of the New Jersey Lottery, Carole Hedinger said: "We are thrilled that the winning jackpot ticket was sold at Spruce Run Exxon. For selling this ticket, they will receive a bonus check for $750.

"Overnight, they have become yet another 'lucky location' for a very fortunate winner."

Hedinger added that more than 5,900 other players who decided to buy lottery tickets for Saturday’s game also got lucky. They will share a cash pot worth $138,755.
