No Labor Day Winner As Powerball Pushes On to $1.3 Billion
Tuesday September 2nd 2025The Powerball jackpot is growing ever closer towards record territory after another drawing passed without a winner on Labor Day. Wednesday’s draw will now have a jackpot of $1.3 billion.
Having built up over the course of three months, the jackpot moved beyond $1 billion for the draw on Saturday night, then hit $1.1 billion on Monday. The winning numbers drawn were 8, 23, 25, 40 and 53, with a Powerball of 5.
No tickets matched all the numbers, but more than 4.5 million prizes were paid out. Many of the winners had added the Power Play option, and the multiplier selected for the draw was 3X.
There were 12 players across the U.S. who matched all five main numbers and only missed out on the Powerball. Of these 12, two had their prizes doubled to $2 million as they had included Power Play. These tickets were sold in Montana and North Carolina.
The jackpot is now set to take another big leap up from $1.1 billion to $1.3 billion, propelled by strong ticket sales as lottery fans chase the opportunity to become rich beyond their widest dreams.
It currently ranks as the fifth-largest jackpot of all time, although it could even push higher if there are more entries than anticipated before the draw time. Head over to the main Powerball page to learn about all the biggest winners from history.
If you win the jackpot, you can decide whether to take the money as an annuity - the full advertised amount spread over 30 yearly payments - or a lump sum. The cash option for the current jackpot is estimated at $589 million.
California has historically been the luckiest location when it comes to the highest jackpots, having been the scene of the record $2.04 billion payout in November 2022 and a few others in the top 10.
