Powerball Jackpot Hits Half a Billion

Wednesday November 28th 2012

Excitement and anticipation are definitely in the air at the moment as tonight sees the mid-week Powerball draw take place which has a mammoth jackpot on offer to win. Due to an increase in ticket sales since Saturday’s draw the Powerball jackpot has grown even more and has now hit the half a billion mark for tonight’s draw. The jackpot currently stands at $500 million and is the biggest ever so the question is will this impressive jackpot be won tonight or will it carry on rolling over?

After Saturday’s Powerball draw the jackpot was originally estimated at $425 million however yesterday lottery officials increased this jackpot by $75 million so it now stands at $500 million, however it could again increase for tonight’s draw if there is a surge in last minute Powerball ticket sales.

Whatever happens tonight this is the biggest the Powerball jackpot has even been so whether it is won tonight or carries on rolling over whoever and whenever someone wins it they will become the largest Powerball jackpot winners ever. However, this is not the biggest jackpot seen in America as the other multi-state lottery the Mega Millions hit enormous heights this year in March when after several rollovers the jackpot that was worth $656 million was won by three ticket holders from Illinois, Kansas and Maryland.

If you fancy striking lucky and winning this very impressive jackpot then make sure you have your Powerball tickets ready for this evenings draw – who knows you could end up making Powerball history!

You can check your Powerball numbers here at Lottery.net shortly after tonight's draw to see if you are a winner.
