Ticket sales are soaring and the jackpot has already increased from US$475 million to US$550 million and then again to US$600 million and still has the potential to go substantially higher before tonight’s eagerly anticipated draw.

The largest Powerball jackpot to date stands at US$587.5 and was split between winners in Arizona and Missouri in November 2012. However, with ticket sales currently booming for tonight’s Powerball draw pushing the jackpot up to US$600 million we could see a new record set this evening should any players win the Powerball jackpot tonight.

Powerball is now played in 43 states with the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the State of California joining in April of this year with the State of California alone selling an impressive US$83 million worth of Powerball tickets in that time.

Powerball jackpots rarely surpass the US$500 million mark, let alone hit US$600 million so avoid the rush and get your tickets early as a jackpot of this size may not come around again for a while. Good luck!
