Third time’s a charm for Maryland Lottery player

Wednesday February 2nd 2011

Third time was certainly a charm for one lottery player from Maryland last month, when he landed a $50,000 prize. Although Maryland Lottery organisers have not named the man, they said it was the 55-year-old’s third big win. He has previously picked up prizes worth $17,500 and $25,000 on the state’s Pick 4 game, after which he took his children on a trip to Disney World.

On this occasion he’d opted to buy lotto tickets for the Bonus Match 5 game and after sitting down last Sunday morning to check his numbers in the paper, he realised he’d struck gold again.

In a statement, it was revealed that the player is employed by The Department of Defence and that he bought his ticket at a 7-Eleven store in Hyattsville. But the winner, who has been married for 25 years, is keen to keep his identity under wraps though, perhaps this time even from his family! He told lottery organisers: “You are the only ones that know.”
