Two Ticket Holders Share Mammoth Mega Millions Jackpot

The results from the draw revealed that two lucky ticket holders matched all five main numbers and the Mega Ball to share the massive $648 million jackpot. The winning numbers from last night’s draw were 8, 14, 17, 20 and 39 with the Mega Ball 7 and the Megapiler 4. The lucky jackpot winners have yet to come forward and claim their share of the colossal prize but officials from both states have confirmed that the winning tickets were purchased in San Jose, California and Atlanta, Georgia. In total, last night’s draw saw a prize pool, excluding the jackpot, worth an amazing $64.3 million shared between over 23.8 million players. In the second prize tier, an unprecedented 20 ticket holders matched all five main numbers to win the increased $1 million prize which came into effect in October 2013. As two of the 20 winning tickets were purchased in California, the two winning ticket holders won $2.6 million each due to prizes in the state being paid out on a pari-mutuel basis.

A further 631 players matched four main numbers and the Mega Ball to win $5,000 each and, of these, 44 had opted for the Megaplier which increased their win to $20,000.

Following this top prize win, the Mega Millions jackpot has now reset to $15 million for Friday’s draw.
