The game has been in the pipeline for some time, with the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) filing a trademark application back in January 2024 and carrying out extensive market research. Now, several state lotteries have published documentation confirming the arrival of Millionaire for Life.

It is set to take the place of Lucky for Life and Cash4Life, so it will effectively be a bigger and better version of these two annuity-style games. The participating lotteries hope it will ‘bring new energy to the game moving forward’, according to Connecticut Lottery President Frank Suarez.

$1 Million a Year for Life

Millionaire for Life’s main selling point will be its prize structure, with nine ways to win. Match all the numbers and you’ll win $1 million every year for the rest of your lifetime, a significant upgrade on the $1,000 a day that you can win on Lucky for Life and Cash4Life.

The second prize also offers a lifetime’s annuity, this time worth $100,000 a year. There are also cash options available for both the jackpot ($18 million) and the second prize ($2.2 million).

As well as the top two prizes, there will be seven other prize categories, giving you the chance to win fixed amounts ranging from $8 to $7,500.

To play, you will be required to pick five numbers from 1 to 58 and a bonus number from a separate set of numbers between 1 and 5. To fund these incredible prizes, the cost per play will be $5.

Draws will take place at 10:15 PM Central Time, with the numbers selected at random using a Digital Draw System rather than a ball machine. Check out our new Millionaire for Life page to learn more about the new game’s odds and prizes.

Which States Will Play?

Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia have all confirmed their participation in Millionaire for Life. The full list of states to take part has yet to be announced, but it is anticipated that those jurisdictions involved in Cash4Life and Lucky for Life will be selling tickets. Colorado, for example, has announced that the Lucky for Life game will be repealed in the state from February 21, 2026.

There are 10 states that play Cash4Life, and 23 states that play Lucky for Life. There may also be a number of extra states in the new game - West Virginia, for example, will be a member of Millionaire for Life but does not currently offer either of the current two big annuity lotteries.

Keep checking Lottery.net for more information about Millionaire for Life ahead of the launch date, and start daydreaming about what you would do with the jackpot if you won $1 million on repeat.
