To win a Lotto America prize, you need to buy a ticket and match enough of the numbers that are drawn (using the checker without having a ticket doesn’t count). To get the jackpot, you must match all five main numbers and the Star Ball, but there are also eight other prize categories for matching fewer numbers. In fact, you are guaranteed a payout just for getting the Star Ball on its own.
If you add the All-Star Bonus option, any non-jackpot prizes you win will be multiplied by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times their initial value. You could win up to $100,000 without even matching all the numbers.
Keep in mind that the claim period for prizes is different in each participating state, ranging from 90 days to one year.
