Pick 5
Pick 5 is the Maryland Lottery's newest draw game, launched on February 7, 2022. Pick 5 joins the state's popular Pick games lineup, which already includes Pick 3 and 4. The five-digit game offers players two draws every day, Midday and Evening, for awesome cash prizes of up to $50,000 with a range of bet styles, plus $0.50 or $1.00 wagers.
The Pick 5 Midday draw is at 12:27 PM ET from Monday through Friday, and at 12:28 PM ET on Saturday and Sunday. Ticket sales close at 12:13 PM and reopen after the draw. The Evening draw is at 7:56 PM ET from Monday through Saturday, and at 8:22 PM ET on Sunday. Ticket sales close at 7:41 PM and reopen after the draw.
How to Play
Pick 5 players can try their luck for prizes from $25 all the way up to $50,000. Like other Maryland Lottery draw games, Pick 5 draws utilize a mechanical lottery ball machine.
Choose five digits from 0 through 9; for example, 12345 (please note that your bet type will determine how many numbers you pick; it may be fewer than five. Bet types are explained below). If you prefer, check Quick Pick and the lottery computer will select random numbers.
You'll be able to play five times per playslip - each panel is one play. It's your choice if you repeat your lucky numbers or try different sets. Fill out your playslip with a pencil or a pen with black or blue ink.
Select the amount to wager per play: $0.50 or $1.00.
The game offers a range of bet types: Straight, Box, Front Pair, Back Pair, Front 3, Back 3, Front 4 and Back 4 (see the explanation below).
There are two Pick 5 drawings every day, Midday and Evening, and you can choose to play one or both. Mark the Time of Draw/s you'd like to enter. You can also use the same numbers for 2 to 7 consecutive days - mark the number of draws or number of days you wish to play. A single ticket will print for all draws and days chosen.
The total ticket cost reflects your bet and how many plays and draws you've chosen.
Bet Types
Pick 5 has a variety of fun bet types - which one you choose determines how your numbers can make a winning match with the numbers drawn. Here's an overview of the play type options:
Straight
Win by matching all five numbers drawn in exact order. For example, if your number is 12345, you will win if the number drawn is 12345, with its digits in that order.
Box
Win by matching all five numbers drawn in any order. There are different types of Box bets, depending on how many ways there are for your digits to make a winning match.
- 5-way Box: Your number has four same digits. Example: 11112.
- 10-way Box: Your number has three same digits and a pair. Example: 11122.
- 20-way Box: Your number has three same digits and two unique digits. Example: 11123.
- 30-way Box: Your number has two pairs and one unique digit. Example: 11223.
- 60-way Box: Your number has a pair and three unique digits. Example: 11234.
- 120-way Box: Your number has five unique digits. Example: 12345.
Front Pair
Your first two digits must match the winning number in exact order. Mark only the first two digits on the panel.
Back Pair
Your last two digits must match the winning number in exact order. Mark only the last two digits on the panel.
Front 3
Your first three digits must match the winning number in exact order. Mark only the first three digits on the panel.
Back 3
Your last three digits must match the winning number in exact order. Mark only the last three digits on the panel.
Front 4
Your first four digits must match the winning number in exact order. Mark only the first four digits on the panel.
Back 4
Your last four digits must match the winning number in exact order. Mark only the last four digits on the panel.
