The Cash 4 Fireball is an optional add-on that gives players more chances at winning prizes, but it doubles the cost of your ticket. Here's how it works…
After the four main winning numbers are drawn, a fifth 'Fireball' digit from 0-9 is also selected. This number can be used to replace any of the winning numbers, making up to four new combinations you could win with. If you played 1234 and the winning numbers were 1230 + Fireball 4, you'd still win a prize since the 0 gets subbed out for the 4.
Even if the Fireball is the same as one or more of the winning numbers, you still use it to win prizes. For example, if you played 8008 as an Exact Order, and the winning numbers were 8008 + Fireball 8, you'd have won the main prize, but you'll also win TWO Fireball prizes on top of that, since each of those 8's can be replaced with the Fireball 8 to make a "new" combination. Neat! Check out the Fireball odds and prizes below.

Cash 4 takes a lot more explaining than many other lotteries, but bear with us - that's part of the fun. This is due to the wide array of options the player is presented with when setting up a Cash 4 ticket. Whether you're new to the game or not, we're sure you'll find the guide below useful. One thing to consider too, you don't need to follow these steps in any particular order.
One of the most important parts of Cash 4 is deciding your play type - choose carefully, as it will make a big difference to your game. In essence, the play type determines how your ticket numbers need to match the drawn numbers in order to win. See the Play Types section for full details.
In Cash 4, the player must select four digits from 0 to 9. You can pick the same digit multiple times, and this will actually affect the odds and prizes on offer for certain play types. Simply mark one digit in each column.
On each play slip, there is room for five separate plays. You can use as many as you please, and you can also mark the Quick Pick box if you'd prefer a set of random numbers selected by the lottery terminal. If you make any mistakes in your selection, mark the Void box, and start again on to the next panel.
You'll notice on the play slip that there are two boxes for the Play Types, one labelled '$1 PLAY' and the other '$0.50 PLAY'. Exact Order and Any Order plays can both be made for just $0.50 - the only difference here is that the prize for winning will be half the equivalent $1 prize. Half your ticket, half the prize - seems fair, and $0.50 is a very cheap ticket indeed!
There are two Cash 4 draws every day, and you have the option to enter your play(s) into the upcoming Midday draw, the Evening draw, or both. Leave this section blank, and you'll be automatically entered into the next available draw.
Using the Multi-Draw section on your play slip, you can choose to enter your numbers play type in up to seven consecutive draws. Leave this section blank if you only want to enter one draw.
Exact Order - To win, match all four winning numbers in the order they're drawn.
Any Order - To win, match all four winning numbers. The draw-order isn’t important.
Exact Or Any Order - These plays always cost $1 — $0.50 on an Exact Order, and $0.50 on Any Order. If you match the winning numbers in drawn-order, you win both prizes simultaneously. Matching in any other order gets you just the Any Order prize.
Combo - This play type enters all possible number combinations as $1 Exact Order plays, so you can win the top $5,000 prize by matching the numbers in any order. This play type is much more expensive, costing from $4 to $24 depending on how many duplicate digits you selected.
If you're making a Combo or Any Order play, the numbers you pick have a big impact on the odds of winning and the prizes you stand to win. That's because these play types let you win with any combination of your chosen numbers, but picking duplicate numbers reduces how many combinations you can make. This is known as the number of Ways you play.
You can play 4-Ways (1112), 6-Ways (1122), 12-Ways (1123), or 24-Ways (1234). For Any Order plays, more Ways = better odds but lower prizes. For Combo plays, more Ways = same odds & prizes, but higher ticket cost.
The biggest prize in Cash 4 is $5,000, but it's technically possible to win more if you get particularly lucky while using the Fireball add-on.
The Multi-Draw feature can be used to enter your play(s) in 2-7 consecutive drawings.
Yes - prizes of $600 or more are subject to state & federal taxation, and any outstanding debts to the state (such as unpaid child support) may also be withheld from your prize.
You must be 21 or older to take part in Mississippi Lottery games such as Cash 4.
You won’t be able to claim any prize if you aren’t in possession of your lottery ticket, so make sure to keep it safe at all times. If your ticket is damaged, you may still be able to claim your winnings depending on its condition — contact the MLC for assistance.
Mississippi Cash 4 tickets can cost as little as $0.50, or as much as $48 depending on the numbers, play type, wager amount, and whether the Fireball was opted for.
Prizes under $600 can be redeemed at any Mississippi Lottery retailer, while prizes greater than this can only be claimed by mail or at the Mississippi Lottery Headquarters in Flowood, near Jackson. You can read more about Mississippi prize claims over on the main MS Lottery page.
Mississippi Lottery winners have 180 days from the date of the winning draw in which to claim their prizes. After this time has passed, any unclaimed prizes will be returned to the prize pool and can no longer be claimed.
