If you’re ready for a simple and fun draw game, Pick 3 might be your ticket of choice. Offering modest prizes and better odds than the big draw games like Powerball and Mega Millions, you win by matching three numbers between 000 and 999 in a play style of your choice.
Use this page to find out everything you need to play the game confidently, including a how-to-play guide, what the different play types are, and the different prizes you could win. You can also navigate to recent Pick 3 draw results, the ticket checker, or our historical Vermont Pick 3 statistics.

Unlike other draw games in the Tri-State area, Pick 3 can be played in many different ways – how you play is in your hands. There are hundreds of authorized lottery retailers in Vermont, so just head down to your local one. Request a play slip from the clerk or take one from the stand.
Choose the lucky Pick 3 numbers you want to enter. Ask the clerk for a Quick Pick if you can’t decide, or use our number generator to have them randomly selected beforehand.
You can win Pick 3 in multiple different ways. See the Play Types section to find out what each play type requires to win.
You can use different wagers in Pick 3, from $0.50 to $5. Higher wagers typically lead to higher payouts. See the odds and prizes table for more information.
You can play the same numbers multiple times in a row, for as many as 42 consecutive drawings.
Buy your ticket from the retailer, keep it safe, and enjoy the draw!
The different play types for Pick 3 are as follows:
Straight - Win by matching the numbers in the exact order they’re drawn. If you pick numbers 123 then you win if the numbers drawn are 123.
Box - Match the numbers drawn in any order. If you pick 123, then you can win prizes by matching 213, or any other box combination.
Pairs - Prizes are won when you match two digits in exact order. Win a Front Pair by matching the first two digits drawn, or a Back Pair by matching the last two digits drawn.
Single Digit - Win by matching one digit in its exact position. That means predicting both the number and whether it comes 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.
You must be at least 18 years old to buy lottery tickets in Vermont.
All prizes must be claimed within one year of the relevant draw date.
Occasionally, the number of bets placed on a particular combination and bet type will reach a liability limit that is determined by the Tri-State Commission. For Pick 3, that is $100,000 for each state (a total limit of $300,000). This liability limit is in place to ensure that winners can always be paid out the full advertised prize, so bets are then suspended when the limit is reached.
