Pick 4 draws take place twice a day. Ticket sales close 10 minutes before each scheduled draw, so be sure to buy your ticket in time. Day draws are at 1:10 PM ET, with Evening draws at 6:55 PM ET.

How to Play Pick 4

You can play Pick 4 at any lottery retailer in the Green Mountain State. There are hundreds in Vermont, so stop at the most convenient one and grab a Pick 4 playslip.

Pick Numbers

Mark four numbers to create a combination between 0000 and 9999. Use Quick Pick if you can’t decide, or bring numbers randomly generated by the Pick 4 number generator to the clerk.

Pick 4 Play Types

Straight - Match all four digits in the exact order they’re drawn. If you choose 1234, you win only when the drawing is 1234.

Box - Win when the same four digits appear in any order. A 1234 Box play wins if the result is 4321, 2134, or any other arrangement of those digits.

Pairs - Win by matching two digits in the correct order – for Front Pair, you must match the first two digits drawn. For Back Pair, match the last two digits drawn. For Middle Pair, match the second and third digits in the correct positions. If the winning number is 1234, the Front Pair is 12, the Middle Pair is 23 and the Back Pair is 34.

Single Digit - Win by correctly choosing one number and its exact position in the draw — 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Playing 5 in the 2nd position wins if the second digit drawn is 5.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a limit to how much can be paid out?

The liability limit is set at $200,000 for each of the three states that plays Tri-State Pick 4 (Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire), making a total of $600,000. Ticket sales may therefore be suspended on certain types of bet to ensure that all winners receive the full advertised prize.

How old do I have to be to play?

The minimum age to play any lottery game in Vermont is 18.

How long do I have to claim a prize if I win?

All Pick 4 prizes must be claimed within one year of the draw date.
