How to Play AZ Pick 4
- Choose Your Numbers: Mark four numbers to create a combination between 0000 and 9999. If you can’t decide, get a Quick Pick and the computer will randomly select numbers for you.
- Select Play Type: Decide whether to play a Straight, Box, Straight/Box or Pair. See the Play Types section for more information.
- How Many Draws? You can play the Midday draw, the Evening draw, or both. Enter your numbers into as many as 12 consecutive draws (or 24 if playing both draw times).
- 1 Play or 2 Play? The cost per ticket is $1, but you can decide whether to play just one set of numbers for your dollar, or two. If you go for a 1 Play, prize amounts are twice as high.
- Buy and Play: All that’s left now is to purchase your ticket and enjoy the draw. Best of luck!
Play Types
Here is more information about the different play types that are offered in Pick 4.
- Straight: Match all four digits in the exact order they’re drawn. If you choose 1234, you win only when the drawn numbers are 1234.
- Box: Win when the same four digits appear in any order. A 1234 Box play wins if the result is 4321, 2134, or any other arrangement of those digits.
- Straight / Box: Half your wager goes on a Straight, and the other half on a Box. Win both parts of the prize if the numbers are drawn in exact order, or just the Box prize if they are drawn in a different order.
- Pair Plays: Win by matching two digits in the correct order – for Front Pair, you must match the first two digits drawn. For Back Pair, match the last two digits drawn. For Mid Pair, match the second and third digits in the correct positions. If the winning number is 1234, the Front Pair is 12, the Mid Pair is 23 and the Back Pair is 34.
