A one-digit Wild Ball number is randomly selected at the start of every draw (Day and Evening). The Wild Ball number then applies to all Pick games for that draw.
The Wild Ball is an optional extra when playing the Pick games. If opted for, the Wild Ball number can replace one of the other winning Pick numbers, giving you more chances to win. The Wild Ball prizes are slightly lower, but the odds are much improved so that checks out. You can even win a main-game prize and a Wild Ball prize on the same ticket if you get really lucky!
Adding Wild Ball doubles the cost of your plays - so if your base play was $1.00, it will cost $2.00 with Wild Ball.

The lottery draws the numbers 153.
The Wild Ball drawn is 2.
If you didn't add the Wild Ball, you'd get no match and no prize.

Yes, your ticket can win two prizes. For instance, let's say you purchase a $1.00 Straight Pick 3 ticket with Wild Ball and choose the numbers 253. The PA Lottery draws the numbers 253 and the Wild Ball is 2. You've won a Straight match prize of $500.
Since you also added Wild Ball, you can use that number 2 instead of any of the lottery's numbers. That creates extra winning combos for you to match your numbers with.
In this case, you could swap the 2 in the lottery's numbers with the Wild Ball 2 to create a Straight match with the numbers drawn. That nets you an additional $200 prize for using Wild Ball. That's a total of $700 in prizes for your play!
