Indiana Mega Millions Player Wins Huge Jackpot!Monday July 11th 2016
A Mega Millions player who bought their ticket for Friday’s draw in Cambridge City, Indiana is now $540 million better off after matching all five main numbers and the Mega Ball. The town boasts a population of less than 2,000 people and is buzzing with excitement as locals wait with bated breath to discover the identity of the lucky player, who picked up the sole winning entry for the drawing at the Speedway gas station.
The store is situated on Interstate 70, so the winner could be anyone from a local who stopped off for a Mega Millions tickets along with their groceries to a traveler from elsewhere in the Hoosier state or even a player from Ohio, which lies less than 20 miles away from the Speedway.
The winning numbers for Friday’s Mega Millions draw were 8, 19, 20, 55 and 73 with Mega Ball 5, and ten players won $1 million in the Match 5 prize tier, with a further three ticket holders taking home $2 million thanks to the 2x Megaplier. Take a look at the full prize breakdown for the draw at the Mega Millions Winning Numbers page.
The winner has picked up the third-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history and the seventh-biggest top prize anywhere in the world. It is also the second most valuable prize won on a single ticket, sitting $50.5 million behind the $590.5 million annuity amount Powerball winner Gloria MacKenzie of Florida could have claimed in May 2013. MacKenzie opted for the cash lump sum of $370.8 million, which is less than the $378 million Friday’s winner could pick up if they would prefer their prize all in one go.
Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot win was only the third of 2016, with each landing on the eighth day of the month. Nancy Viola of New York claimed $169 million from the drawing on January 8th and March 8th saw Washington’s Michael Burkett pocket $157 million before Friday July 8th’s win for the latest Mega Millions multimillionaire. The next Mega Millions drawing to land on that day will be in November, when sales are likely to rocket with players hoping to be the next to benefit from the “Lucky 8” phenomenon.
Your next chance to play Mega Millions comes on Tuesday night when the jackpot will be worth $15 million. You can buy Mega Millions tickets in any of the participating states and jurisdictions. Good luck!
