How to Play Hot Spot

Playing is easy, but the different options can be daunting for newcomers. Follow the guide below to help you get started.

Pick Your Spots

Playing is easy, but the different options can be daunting for newcomers. First, decide how many 'Spots' to play, from 1 to 10. Second, choose your numbers from 1 to 80 - or choose Quick Pick to play randomly generated numbers. Your numbers must equal the number of Spots you chose. For example, if you're playing a 3-Spot game, you need to play three numbers.

In each draw, 20 numbers from 1 to 80 are chosen as the winners, and it's your job to match as many of these as possible!

Not sure how many Spots to play? The prizes and odds of winning are different depending on the number of spots you've played, so be sure to check the prize tables (further down the page) to find your favourite play style.

Bulls-eye Option

Every draw, one of the winning numbers is designated as the Bulls-eye. If you use the Bulls-eye option and manage to match this number, you'll get a bigger payout. To play Bulls-eye, you need to wager at least $2 on your Hot Spot game. Your Hot Spot wager must equal your Bulls-eye wager, so for a $4 play, $2 goes to Hot Spot and $2 to Bulls-eye. You don't need to choose a separate number for the Bulls-eye.

Play in Advance

Check the Advance Play option to play up to 1-5, 10, 20, 50, or 100 consecutive draws using a single playslip.

How Much to Wager?

Decide how much you want to wager per draw: $1 to $5, $10, or $20. The odds stay the same no matter what you wager, and the prizes increase as you might expect, with the $5 prizes being 5 times greater than the $1 prizes. You'll receive a Hot Spot ticket, which is your receipt. It shows the number of spots, your chosen numbers, the draw date, the dollar amount paid, and whether you played Bulls-eye. Always check your ticket for accuracy and sign the back.

Hot Spot and Bulls-eye Payouts

Check the tables below for the payouts according to how many numbers you match.

There are two types of Hot Spot payouts: Typical Prize Pools (TPPs) and Typical Prize Amounts (TPAs). TPPs are shared equally among all winners of the prize. All other payouts are TPAs that are awarded to each winner to the extent supported by available prize funds. TPPs are shared equally by the total number of winners on the 8 of 8 Spot, 9 of 9 Spot, and 10 of 10 Spot plays.

Bulls-eye prizes include both the Hot Spot and Bulls-eye Typical Prize Amounts.
