Massachusetts Enters

The Bay State is the most recent state to join the Powerball Xs and Os game, after the lottery authority brought it into the fold on October 19, 2026. The first game that MA players are able to take part in will take place Sunday October 25.

In Massachusetts, the game was initially launched as an online-only game and was available through the state’s Mass Lottery Online platform, which had launched prior to this on July 27. The platform, which provides access to other games including Powerball, Mega Millions, and Mass Cash, funnels profits towards a state grant program to fund early childhood care and education in the Bay State.

According to Massachusetts State Lottery Executive Director Mark Bracken, Powerball Xs and Os is designed to appeal to traditional draw game enthusiasts and sports fans alike. State lottery officials also spoke of NFL-licensed products to be provided to in-person lottery agents in the future.

Previously, Idaho Joined the Game

A week prior to Massachusetts’ entry into the game, Idaho brought Powerball Xs and Os to the Gem State, joining 23 other states plus DC. Tickets went on sale Monday, October 12, 2026 and the first draw occurred on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at 8 pm MT with an advertised jackpot of $1.7 million.

In Idaho, the game is sold through local lottery retailers for $5 per play. Players can also fill out a digital playslip in the Idaho Lottery app, then buy the ticket at a retailer. The Idaho Lottery’s aim is to maximize dividends for Idaho public schools and the state’s Permanent Building Fund. In July 2026 it announced a record $90 million dividend for schools.

Idaho players can also enter their tickets into Powerball’s national second-chance program at PowerballOfficial.com or in the Powerball Official App. Prizes can include NFL game tickets, merchandise and a trip to the Super Bowl. Tickets can be entered into this whether they win or not.
